If I had a buck for every rumor I've heard about the mysterious Apple iTV over the last year or so, I would be writing this blog post on a solid gold MacBook Pro. But despite that not being the case, I'll tell you about the latest piece of gossip anyway: It seems that Foxconn's chief may have confirmed that the device is actually coming.
According to a report in the China Daily, Terry Gou — chairman of Foxconn, the company which manufactures a lot of Apple's gadgets — said that his factories are already making preparations for the iTV, "although development or manufacturing has yet to begin."
Gou explained to China Daily's Gao Changxin that "Foxconn's recent 50-50 joint venture factory with Sharp in Japan is one of the preparations made for the new device."
Prior reports have suggested that the iTV will be a a magically simple yet super smart television which will allow us to control our media by speaking, gesturing or using our mobile devices. Based on the China Daily report, these details are right on the money as the device will supposedly be a high-definition television which features "an aluminum construction, Siri, and FaceTime video-calling."
There are no details as to when we'll see the iTV, though prior reports have suggested that it will be announced by the end of 2012.
